Meditations for Advent 2024 - Day 19 - The Prophet of the Most High

Can we truly prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ by reflecting on the past? Join us as we explore profound Advent themes guided by John the Baptist's prophetic voice and the Virgin Mother's enduring mystery. We uncover the critical mission of John, who called for repentance and offered a path to Christ. This episode encourages us to embrace God’s mercy and strive for a life of purity and justice found in Christ, drawing inspiration from ancient prophecies by Zechariah, Isaiah, and Malachi.

Meditations for Advent 2024 - Day 18 - The Mercy Promised to Our Fathers

The arrival of Christ heralds a profound transformation, and in our latest episode, we reflect on this pivotal moment from "Meditations for Advent," taken from Bishop Jacques Bossuet's homilies. We explore Zechariah's exuberant canticle that celebrates Jesus as the horn of salvation, fulfilling ancient promises and conquering formidable foes—both seen and unseen. As we consider the true enemies within—our sins, vices, and evil desires—we are prompted to realign our lives with the divine justice and grace that Christ offers, inviting us to serve with genuine holiness and righteousness. This meditation challenges us to look beyond the surface and embrace a life that honors God not just in appearance but in spirit and truth.

I watched this video from Trent Horn, but all through it, all I could picture was how modern churches look like Protestant churches. But it seems like something Trent wouldn’t touch. He says Protestant churches- especially mega-churches- are built for the speaker to be heard better. How many “modern” Catholic churches were built that way? A clip from a Protestant… scholar?… commenting on how the architecture of churches changed after the “reformation” (revolution) stated “when we went ‘back to the word of God’ (yes, we went ‘back’ to those early days of Christianity, when the Bible that Jeusus didn’t command to be written wasn’t canonized, at a time when everyone was illiterate, was the focus of worship), and all I could see was how many NO Mass processions hold the missal above their heads, and at one Mass, the deacon during the “Alleluia,” paraded the missal to all the corners of the altar (because of course it was built like a “theater-in-the-round”...

Braciole Recipe

It's labor-intensive, but it's a labor of love.

Step 1: Get a large can of tomato sauce and a large can of chopped tomatoes into a slow cooker/crockpot. Add your spices of choice (mine is onion and garlic powder, chopped garlic, basil, parsley, black pepper), and set it on low for several hours. If using a large pot on the stove instead of a crockpot/slow cooker, set on low for a couple hours, stirring occasionally.

Next, you get about 2 lbs of flank steak... and pound the SHIT out of it with a mallet!!! 🥩 🔨 😆 Use both sides of the mallet (large head first, then smaller side, and pound both sides of the meat to get it thin, nice and tender. Slice into 6 equal size rectangular pieces.

With each piece (on one side) sprinkle onion powder (not onion salt), add chopped fresh garlic, chopped fresh parsley, pine nuts (ya gotta use the Pignolis!), bread crumbs, freashly ground black pepper, and freshly grated Parmesan-Reggiano cheese. Roll it like a...
